Skin Care Guide to Perfect Lips

by | Aug 28, 2018

Whether it is the biting cold that chaps or the blazing sun that burns or the dead heat of a low
humidity summer that dries, your lips are always at the mercy of some kind of elemental abuse.
We all see those Insta models with the plump, smooth lips and we surely all have spent some
amount of time trying our best to mimic the perfection – or even just ease the discomfort that
comes with peeling and cracked lips!

Luckily for us all, there are some simple things you can do in your skincare and lip care routine
to help promote healthy, dare we say quite perfect, lips!
Number one (and most important for all aspects of healthy skin and healthy insides, really) is to
be sure to stay hydrated! We’re talking straight water (or unsweetened seltzer) – no added
sugars and syrups. Simply keeping your body hydrated will allow for your lips, too, to stay
hydrated which equals plumpness, smoothness, and an innate resistance to cracking and
flaking and, of course, drying out.

You will also want to pay attention to your lips when you remove your makeup at night. Going to
bed with them caked still in lipstick or holding onto traces of gloss will clog them up, prevent
them from being able to breathe which will – you guessed it! – lead them to dry out. The same
way your face needs to be fully makeup and grime free before bed, so do your lips.
Did you know lip massage is a thing? Well, it is, and it can help you get that perfect mouth you
want! Your lips crave nourishing essential oils, and they too need flowing circulation. Put a little
dab of consumption-safe oil on your lips and rub it in for a few minutes. This will deliver the oil
required plus will improve blood flow to give you a healthy kisser.

Lip balm, lip balm, lip balm – we can’t stress this enough! A natural, hydrating lip balm with
ingredients such as coconut oil or beeswax will deliver hydration and moisture while also
providing a natural, healthy barrier against the wind and the sun’s harsh rays.
