Rice Water + Haircare
While they’re delicious, many of us try to minimize our carb intake. Whether it’s rice, pasta, or potatoes, we like to indulge in them, especially during dinner time. Our physicians might tell us to diminish our intake, but not so fast! Carbohydrates can lead to diseases such as diabetes, but we’re here to tell you not to put those carbs away just yet. We’re not going to suggest that you consume them, but you’ll be surprised what wonders it can do to your hair!
There’s a growing trend where you’ll see people turning to rice water for their hair care. Why do you ask? Well, we’ll tell you! While recently moving over into the Western world, using rice water on hair has been a norm for women in Asian countries.
Exceptionally easy to make, rice water is simply the water that is left behind after soaking or cooking rice. While this frothy looking liquid usually gets thrown away, hold onto it! To give a bit more background on this gold mine liquid, rice water is also good for the skin – having the ability to help tighten and firm up the skin. While it works to enhance the skin, we’re here for gorgeous, beautiful locks! Rice water is packed with vitamins and minerals, and this is what has caused people to turn towards this liquid in their hair care routines.
Due to it being filled with beneficial minerals, rice water is said to have amazing results on the hair. Not only does it help with hair growth, but it can also help make the hair stronger. It is even said that rice water can help increase the luster of hair while also help delay the onset of graying hair.
If you’re ready to try rice water on your hair, it’s easier than you think! After acquiring the rice water after your next dinner, use the liquid as a conditioner in your hair. After shampooing, all you need to do is pour the rice water into your hair and let it sit for 5-20 minutes. After massaging it into your scalp and hair, wash it out, and you’re good to go!
It always seems as if there’s a new fad ready to break its way into the beauty community. While the jury is still out on some of them, rice water is a tried and tested method of growing long, beautiful hair.
